About us
Rooted in Tradition, Reaching for a Brighter Future
Eagle’s Nest: A Place To Soar was founded on a deep respect for Indigenous cultures and a commitment to healing. Rooted in the traditions of the Delaware Nation, our program welcomes youth from all backgrounds, providing a supportive environment for personal growth.
Mission
Our Mission at Eagle's Nest: A Place To Soar
Our Mission
- To provide a high standard of care for all children, prioritizing the needs of Indigenous communities.
- To empower children to build strong cultural identities and reach their full potential.
- To advocate for culturally appropriate care and combat racism and stereotypes within the child welfare system.
- To serve as a leader in treatment Out-of-Home care, exceeding standards and inspiring excellence.
Our Cultural Commitment
Weaving a Tapestry of Strength
At Eagle’s Nest: A Place To Soar, cultural identity is not an afterthought, it’s the foundation of who we are.
We believe that strong cultural connections are essential for healing and growth.
Mission
While "Indigenous" provides a starting point, it doesn't capture the unique identities of the children and youth we serve.
- Local Variations: Within communities, cultural practices and traditions can differ significantly.
- Intersectional Identities: Many children identify with multiple cultures, reflecting their diverse backgrounds (e.g., Indigenous and African American, Haudenosaunee and Anishinaabe).
- Beyond Culture: Identity is multifaceted. Children may identify based on their home community, Nation, tribe, faith group, gender identity, sexual orientation, friendships, and family.
